  • (World) The Fuller Dymaxion Air-Ocean World, R. Buckminster Fuller, 1967
In the late 1960's and early 70's R. Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller was a futurist and inventor that resonated with younger generations, and was seen as a leading figure in how we'd remake the future into something better. Beyond geodesic domes, and unique car designs, he was an inspiration that still has a quality of hope that people draw from today. And one of his innovations that made an impact was his map projection the "Dymaxion" world map that gave a more objective and transposable understanding of geography.

This colorful edition of his classic world map has a paste over on top of the old title section, which was at first the "Honeywell edition" of this map. Issued while Fuller was an active and esteemed professor at Southern Illinois University (1959-70), this copy includes a pasted address in the lower right for "additional copies available from" and gives his p.o. box. In addition, this instance of the map came with a large and exhaustive text sheet discussing the projection and its implications to geography. Drawn from a 1944 article in the "American Neptune", it includes geometric illustrations for how the projection is able to faithfully illustrate the globe. Our first encounter with this edition and the additional descriptive sheet.

Condition is very good for the map with minor pinholes (32 x 17.5) and the description sheet is in rougher condition with numerous repaired tears (21 x 33.5)
