Hardcover, original red cloth with black labels and gilt lettering on spine, unpaginated.  Pages appear slightly toned. Minor wear, soiling and scuffing to boards. Slight edge wear with typical bumping to spine and corners. Dust jacket is torn and parts missing. Overall Very Good condition. The Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, considered to be the first true modern atlas, was written by Abraham Ortelius Flemish cartographer and geographer and originally published in 1570. This edition is a facsimile of the London 1606 edition which was the only English edition of Ortelius' atlas. The introduction by R.A. Skelton provides a biographical sketch of Abraham Ortelius.
