There was conflict between the city planner Robert Moses and the community of Greenwich Village, which was headed by Jane Jacobs. Moses wanted to place a highway across the area and raze parts of the neighborhood. When people rose up, Moses said everyone was for it except "a bunch of mothers". This map is by one of those "mothers", artist and preservationist Catryna Ten Eyck Seymour. She had pushed for "Vest Pocket Parks in the city, insuring some green spaces surviving throughout the city. Here her map and attached small guide, noting thirty points of interest.
