  • Silk-Flyers "Escape" Map
  • (AK - Flyers Silk ) ALASKA (CL-54) - USAF CLOTH CHART -

This is what we put in the hands of US pilots as the Cold War began. This map was supplied to you in the terrible case that you went down and needed to make it to land and civilization. Showing great detail for the coast, interior rivers, towns, mountains and nearby islands this map would be a life line to help you orient and make it to safety. Printed on a type of nylon, it would be waterproof, wouldn't have folds, and would be easy to conceal. Printed on both sides, this map shows an area from Ketchikan and nearby Queen Charlotte islands, up to the Arctic Sea and Bering Strait, on the reverse is coverage of the western coast, all the Aleutians and Bering Sea, spanning well into eastern Russia, Wrangel Islands and down to portions of Kamchatka . Prominently states at the top "Restricted".

Condition is good with some light soiling and a few very small pin holes. Image size is approximately 35.5 x 35.5 (inches)
